Long Time...No Posts

Hello All,

It's been a ridiculously long time since I've managed to post here on my blog.  It has been a very busy few weeks for us.  Before I go into that though, let me just comment on the explosions at the Boston Marathon yesterday.  Although not a Boston native, I have been here for 20 years.  Prior to moving here, I had no idea what the Boston Marathon was much less how important a day it is to folks in the city and neighboring areas.  This is truly a special day for Bostonians.  We revel in the return of spring, watch runners with anticipation, not only for the elite athletes vying for the crown, but for regular folks raising money for great charities, and we come out to celebrate our local sports teams and spend time with family and friends.  As the first day of our week-long school vacation families are out for the first time after a long, cold winter, together enjoying the sun and the festivities.  Boston is a college town with hundreds of thousands of local students that participate in these events.  What happened yesterday was a senseless tragedy and my thoughts and prayers go out to all who were affected.   While my family was not in attendance yesterday, my oldest son is in the Civil Air Patrol and had he been just a couple years older would potentially have been working security downtown.  I am so thankful that he was home safe with me yesterday and yet so proud and grateful to those folks who were present and willingly jumped in to help those who were injured or in danger.  For many not in New England, I'm sure this seems remote, but please take a moment to think of all the folks impacted here and how a very special, family day of celebration and joy is forever tarnished by this event.

Now to explain my absence from my blog (and so soon after I have so many new followers!) Truly pathetic.  I have FINALLY managed to get some pictures of the projects I was working on and the finishes from last month.

Lizzie Kate - March Flip-It

Eva Rosenstand - Plums

Lizzie Kate - Green Flip-It - Eat Locally

And my favorite finish of the month - Heart in Hand Wee Ones - St. Patrick Bird

I do have a few other updates to share as well.  Given my recent track record, I figure I better get these up here, just in case it takes me a couple of weeks to show off the finishes.  I'm 100% confident these can get wrapped up this month.  And, I'm hopeful that a few others might take their places in my rotation.  I feel so behind on my stitching.  I had grand plans of so many wonderful spring projects, but just didn't manage to get to them.  Given how the weather has been this year though, it looks like I may have another two months before summer arrives so perhaps I should continue my spring project efforts...hmmmm....

So, for the in-progress projects:

LHN - Fresh Watermelon

Lanarte - Two Penguins

Shepherd's Bush - Luck

I have to say I just love the little penguins - all half-stitches so super quick to do even on the 32 ct evenweave.  But Luck is just adorable too.  I ended up using different fabric rather than buy some new 10ct lambswool linen, but I think it's coming out just beautifully.  I can't wait to finish up the final stitches and get the buttons on it.  I'd like to make a pillow out of it for the finish-finish, but that's probably going to wait until I can get a better sewing machine.  The machine I have is just too infuriating at the moment.  One of these days...

Thanks for reading and I'll be posting again soon.  Have faith!

  2. My heart and prayers go out to those involved with the explosions during the Boston marathon - it is hard to understand why people feel the need to cause such devastation. We are hoping and praying here in the UK that nothing of a similar nature happens during the course of the London marathon.

Your stitching finishes are beautiful and so are your current work in progress projects. Good luck and hopefully you will have more finishes by the end of the month.

  3. I was so saddened to hear this on the news when it happened.

    Your projects are looking lovely.

Some Summer Finishes

Hello Everyone! Ahhh summer.  So many distractions, so little time.  I am still stitching away here in toasty warm Massachusetts, but I've sadly been neglecting all my followers and not updating you on the progress.  What can I say?  Is a picture worth 1000 words? Sorry to say the computer just doesn't make it down to the beach or the pool - sand, water, electronics - bad combination.  But, now that I'm back at my desk I can diligently share with you all the wonderful progress I'm making on my never-ending list of projects. Mill Hill Dragonfly Such a summery little guy.  Although a close up would be better you can kind of get an idea of the excellent teal and lime green colors on this one. Lizzie Kate Green Flip-It Save Water The third one I've finished in the series - I should have bought all 6 patterns!  I think this one goes in the kids bathroom.  Every little reminder I can get in before they jump in the shower for 30 minute...

June at the 1/3rd Mark

So, June 10th has arrived.  I'm officially 1/3 of the way through the month and I think I've got a whopping one post so far. Not really living up to my plans to keep regular updates coming...hmmm.  Seems like a good goal to keep working on.  In that spirit, here's the progress for the month so far.  There are quite a few pictures here so be warned. A few new finishes. Honey Pot (Mill Hill) What can I say?  It just feels like summer to me when I look at this design.  Love the little bee charm as well.  The only challenge was the crazy small gold beads with full cross stitches through them.  I had my doubts as to whether I would finish them - so frustrating sometimes when I can't get that second half of the stitch through the bead. Flip-It June (Lizzie Kate) Yep, another one.  So far that's February, March, April, May and June completed (I missed January so that's a 2014 project). Laundry Wahine Style (Silver Needle) This is...

Wrapping Up May and Kicking Off June

Hello fellow stitchers! I hope you all had a great weekend.  It was toasty warm here in MA this past weekend.  Since I refuse to turn the A/C on in the house before July (it is New England after all), it was a whopping 90 degrees in our house on Saturday.  Quite warm. But, we are back to 70 degrees, overcast skies and some rain today.  In all seriousness, it was a great weekend to be outside sitting at the pool and the kids had a blast swimming this early in the season.  We were also busy with some other activities including my daughter's bridging ceremony for Girl Scouts up to Juniors.  I can't believe she'll be in 4th grade next year! Yikes!  All this is by way of explanation for the lateness of my May wrap-up post.  So I'm combining the wrap-up with a kick-off for June. In stitching news, May was in fact the biggest month for finishes this year for me.  Eleven in total!  Yay!!!  So, for the year the record looks like: January...
