Long Time...No Posts

Hello All,

It's been a ridiculously long time since I've managed to post here on my blog.  It has been a very busy few weeks for us.  Before I go into that though, let me just comment on the explosions at the Boston Marathon yesterday.  Although not a Boston native, I have been here for 20 years.  Prior to moving here, I had no idea what the Boston Marathon was much less how important a day it is to folks in the city and neighboring areas.  This is truly a special day for Bostonians.  We revel in the return of spring, watch runners with anticipation, not only for the elite athletes vying for the crown, but for regular folks raising money for great charities, and we come out to celebrate our local sports teams and spend time with family and friends.  As the first day of our week-long school vacation families are out for the first time after a long, cold winter, together enjoying the sun and the festivities.  Boston is a college town with hundreds of thousands of local students that participate in these events.  What happened yesterday was a senseless tragedy and my thoughts and prayers go out to all who were affected.   While my family was not in attendance yesterday, my oldest son is in the Civil Air Patrol and had he been just a couple years older would potentially have been working security downtown.  I am so thankful that he was home safe with me yesterday and yet so proud and grateful to those folks who were present and willingly jumped in to help those who were injured or in danger.  For many not in New England, I'm sure this seems remote, but please take a moment to think of all the folks impacted here and how a very special, family day of celebration and joy is forever tarnished by this event.

Now to explain my absence from my blog (and so soon after I have so many new followers!) Truly pathetic.  I have FINALLY managed to get some pictures of the projects I was working on and the finishes from last month.

I do have a few other updates to share as well.  Given my recent track record, I figure I better get these up here, just in case it takes me a couple of weeks to show off the finishes.  I'm 100% confident these can get wrapped up this month.  And, I'm hopeful that a few others might take their places in my rotation.  I feel so behind on my stitching.  I had grand plans of so many wonderful spring projects, but just didn't manage to get to them.  Given how the weather has been this year though, it looks like I may have another two months before summer arrives so perhaps I should continue my spring project efforts...hmmmm....

I have to say I just love the little penguins - all half-stitches so super quick to do even on the 32 ct evenweave.  But Luck is just adorable too.  I ended up using different fabric rather than buy some new 10ct lambswool linen, but I think it's coming out just beautifully.  I can't wait to finish up the final stitches and get the buttons on it.  I'd like to make a pillow out of it for the finish-finish, but that's probably going to wait until I can get a better sewing machine.  The machine I have is just too infuriating at the moment.  One of these days...
